Cheyenne Indigo Currie, BSc, BSW, RSW

Hi, I’m Cheyenne! (she/her/they/them),

I’m so glad you’re here ✨

I feel immense gratitude and responsibility as I work alongside folks in the most difficult and transformative phases of their lives. And I hope that when you read a little bit about me, and my life, you’ll find that we are a good fit.

I am a 3rd generation Bajan (Barbados) Canadian, Queer genderfluid person living with chronic illnesses, and my life experiences have profoundly shaped who I am today. From a young age, I took on the responsibility of caring for my younger siblings and we grew up in subsidized housing, which instilled in me a strong sense of resilience and empathy. My lived experiences have fueled my unwavering commitment to Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority liberation and social justice, driving my work and advocacy in creating a more equitable and compassionate world.

My practice is grounded in an anti-oppressive approach to healing, enriched by specific training in Perinatal Mental Health, Grief and Loss, Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Internal Family Systems, Radial Mental Health First Aid, and Somatic Healing. While I have training in many Western healing modalities, my focus is on cross-cultural theories such as Black Feminist Thought, Disability Justice, honouring Indigenous Ways of Knowing, and Structural Theories. I believe that true healing requires a holistic and culturally respectful approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of mental, physical, emotional, and soulful well-being.

With over seven years of experience working in land conservation and the protection of Mother Earth, I found myself facing an intense burnout. I still hold a sincere passion for land protection, and feel honoured to work with First Nations communities in Wabanaki territory to advance Land Back initiatives. I hold a Bachelor of Science from Western University and a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie University. I am also a registered social worker with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.

I found community in the perinatal mental health space due to losses in my family and my own experience navigating infertility. I hope to be a source of guidance, comfort, and empowerment for my future clients during the perinatal period and beyond.

At Indigo Healing Support & Services, I offer a range of services, including individual and group therapy, workshops, and consulting focused on equity, diversity, inclusion, and perinatal care. I am committed to creating spaces where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected.

My practice is not just about supporting individuals; it’s about fostering a collective movement towards healing and liberation for all.
